What Does a Female Exam and Care Include?

At American Urgent Care Center, we provide a wide range of female exam and care procedures, including the following:

Vaginal exam: Whether it’s part of your usual check-up, or you have sought professional help because you are experiencing pain/discomfort in your vaginal and pelvic area, unnatural vaginal discharge, or other symptoms, a vaginal exam will help identify what the cause of the symptoms are. A vaginal exam is a necessary procedure that can help in the identification of many conditions.

Before the examination, the doctor will explain the entire procedure and answer any questions you may have. Our goal is for you to have a complete understanding of what is taking place so you can feel as relaxed and stress-free as possible. Then the doctor carefully examines you, looking for any signs of irritation, warts, cysts, or other medical condition. The doctor will then give you a diagnosis and explain any necessary treatments needed to address any existing conditions.

Vaginal foreign body removal: American Urgent Care Center, can effectively and safely remove foreign bodies from the vagina. Vaginal foreign bodies are simply those objects which are not meant to be placed inside the woman’s vagina but have been placed there either intentionally or accidentally.

Symptoms of foreign bodies in your vagina include pain and discomfort, bleeding, foul smell, vaginal discharge, discomfort while peeing, etc. If you experience any of these, make sure you visit our facility as soon as possible as it could be a symptom of a vaginal foreign body, requiring immediate attention to prevent further complications.

Pap smear: A Pap smear is a screening procedure that women go through to determine if they have cervical cancer. Also known as a Pap test, it can examine the presence of cancerous or precancerous cells on your cervix. Often, a pap smear is combined with HPV (human papilloma virus ) screening. This is because cervical cancer is primarily caused by the presence of HPV types 16 and 18, meaning that your chances of developing cervical cancer are higher if you have HPV.

The procedure involves gentle scraping of cells from your cervix and sent to a lab to be examined for any abnormal growth. Although a pap smear can be mildly uncomfortable, it is completely bearable and does not cause any long-term pain. It is important that any sexually active woman, even if in a monogamous relationship, include regularly scheduled pap smears as part of their health plan.

STD treatment: If you suspect that you have an STD, then American Urgent Care Center can help you identify your condition by running tests and exams, such as blood tests, fluid samples, and urine samples. In the event that you have contracted an STD, then we are well-equipped to provide you with the treatment you require. Usually, the procedure for treating common STDs consists of either antibiotics or antiviral drugs.

Yeast infection treatment: Vaginal yeast infection is a common condition that develops when the balance of yeast and bacteria in the vagina changes, causing the yeast cells to multiply to an unhealthy amount. As a result, symptoms such as swelling, itching, and irritation start to appear. Thankfully, treatment is usually very simple, and symptoms will be relieved within a few days or up to two weeks or so. You will most likely be given an antifungal ointment, cream or tablets.

UTI treatment: Urinary tract infection is a common condition that affects your urinary system, including your ureters, kidneys, bladder, and urethra. Symptoms can include a burning sensation while peeing, a strong and persistent urge to urinate but ending up peeing only very little, pelvic pain, strong smelling urine, etc. It is usually treated with antibiotics.
